Proxmox VE Beta

Using this Protected Item type will not incur a per-guest charge while the beta program is ongoing.

This feature requires Comet Backup 25.6.8 or later.

This Protected Item backs up Proxmox VE virtual machines by connecting directly to a Proxmox cluster via SSH.

For each virtual machine selected for backup, Comet takes a snapshot of the VM, then streams all necessary files into the Chunking engine. Comet then frees the VM snapshot on the host. The machine running Comet Backup does not require any temporary disk space.

Known Limitations of Proxmox VE Beta Program

Not Supported as of Voyager 25.6.8

  • Proxmox VE 9
  • Proxmox Containers
  • Proxmox VMs must be running (stopped VMs cannot be backed up)
  • Support for Changed Block Tracking when backing up VMs.
  • Support for restoring a Proxmox VM into Hyper-V / VMware
  • Only root credentials can be used
